Natural Hairstyles for the Workplace
Before we get started I need you to accept your hair's texture. For some odd reason, society tells us beautiful hair equals long, straight, and silky hair. Not true! Your hair - no matter the texture and length - is beautiful. Focus on achieving healthy hair. While you're working on the outside (deep conditioning, styling, etc) make sure you also work on the inside (drink water, take your vitamins, eat healthier, be stress free, etc).
A few tips:
- Keep in mind there will be days when your hair looks amazing and there will be days when you hate your hair so much that you will be tempted to slap the creamy crack on your scalp but don't give in.
- Youtube will be your best friend during your natural hair journey. It's all about trial and error so don't give up.
- To achieve the "slick down" look, use lots of eco styler gel and a scarf. I usually tie my hair down in the morning after styling it and I remove the silk scarf when I get to work. The scarf makes a difference.
- Don't be afraid to use extensions.
- Clip your ends!!! Even though your hair is natural, your ends can make the difference between flawless curls and a hot a*s mess.
- Moisturize your hair!
- Embrace your natural coils.
